To date, we've held seven of the eight Hollywood Nights With the Hounds we've planned for the inaugural run this fall. We've been exceedingly pleased with the attendance and enthusiasm that HoundsNation has given us at these events, perhaps because these events are a lot of fun -- and also free.On deck: The Grande Finale. Our open-for-all Hollywood Night With the Hounds, set for October 27 at Crittenden Field in Ashburn.Have you been out to one yet? Have the Hounds graced your neighborhood with a Hollywood Night? Have you seen how much fun these things are? You haven't? Ah. Well, grab the kids, dust off a few lawn chairs and let's Join The Pack for dinner and a show -- presented by Ted Britt Ford,DogGone Natural, Modern Mechanical and Maid Brigade.Shortly after 5 pm, you and the family saunter onto the grass, note where the screen is facing and wisely stake out a prime viewing spot. You plant your lawn chairs for later, then turn to take in the pre-flick fun & games the Hounds have worked up for you.You and your other half each grab a bottle of water (provided by Ashburn Eyecare) while the kids get started on their bags of popcorn (cooked up by Loudoun Valley Floors). As DJ Joe spins beats over the speakers (tunes courtesy of Loudoun Hypnosis), the kids pick their choice of glowsticks (lit up byDrainage & Erosion Solutions), snap them into circles and find instant fun in flinging the purple-red-orange discs somewhat at each other. Fetch, the Hometown Hound (walked by The Run Around Hound), is always strolling around in search of fun, his tail whapping to and fro.After investing in a couple 50/50 raffle tickets (offered by Loudoun Valley Floors), you point the kids in the direction of the KidsZone and its Tee-Hit & Speed-Pitch games (pumped up by CertaPro Painters and Drainage & Erosion Solutions). After tossing some strikes and taking a few cuts, the kids come get you so you all can play in Fetch's Quest Trivia Challenge (presented by InSight Law), where your basic knowledge of Jackie Robinson and Cal Ripken propels your team to victory (and the HoundsGear t-shirts won therefrom).The skies grow darker as twilight sets in, causing the crowd to gradually gather in front of the big white screen with "HOUNDS" arcing below it. You call the kids over from the cornhole-toss game, but they feel the irresistible need to grab a handful of complimentary candy (stocked by Sky Marble & Graniteand Holloway Company) first – priorities, you see. That's alright; you'd already enjoyed a $2 big slice of Manhattan Pizza.The music fades; the movie starts. A family-friendly baseball-themed picture flickers onto the screen, and everybody settles back. The night has begun, the only light cast by the big screen and the faint embers of the glowsticks. The assemblage of neighbors watches, enjoys, whispers, laughs just when the producers wanted them to. The plot thickens, and in the end everything turns out just perfect. (Oh yeah, and you won the raffle too. A cool $32. Yay.) Just like in the movies.And that's it. Show's over; you gather your things (living and otherwise) and head home, content after an evening of free family fun with your Loudoun Hounds. And we all live happily ever after.See you there.
