CAMS-Polecat-Soaring Circuits2K13 ALES OPEN SOARJune 14th, 15th and 16th
Three days of true flat land soaring at the beautiful Carlisle Aeromodelers field near Carlisle, PA. Friday June 14th is practice day, Saturday June 15th and Sunday June 16th are two days of ALES soaring competition. We try to finish by 3:00 on Sunday so that folks with a trip home can get a good start. Trophies awarded both days of competition plus Overall Trophies. ALES rules can be found on the newly formed ALES League web site found here http://www.ales-league.org/ This contest will also count for League points and will likely be one of the largest, if not the largest this year. Along with winning first place overall for the weekend you will recieve the honor of naming the piggy for next years contest!! I'm waiting with baited breath to hear from Walter Higgins (last years winner) to find out the name of this years pig:-)
Friday the field will be open for practice all day. No food or drinks provided on Friday. Saturday will be the first day of competition and Coffee and Donuts will be there for you in the morning, a grilled lunch is provided complete with sides (Yes Aurele, that will include Miss Peggy's baked beans:-) Saturday evening after trophy presentation there will be a full blown pig roast!! Former attendees of the Polecat Challenge have requested the return of the pig roast. Unfortunately "Fluffy" will be able to attend:-) Sunday you will once again be provided with coffee and donuts in the morning and another excellent lunch. Both days there will be bottled water available all day long and sodas with the meals. There is no formal charge for all this food, simply a donation jar at meal time. Pilots meeting 9:00 AM Saturday. Directions to the field and pics of the site and some of last years contest can be found at www.carlisleaeromodelers.com. There is not a collector car event this weekend so motels will be readily available and very reasonable. Hotel/motel info can be found here http://www.carsatcarlisle.com/visitors/lodging.asp . On site camping is permitted but there are no facilities. Off site camping only a few miles away can be found here http://dogwoodcamping.com/ Warning on the off site camping, Dogwood is over run by out of control Canadians this weekend:-))
Once again I will organize the largest raffle that I can muster up. This raffle will be for Registered participants only and you will recieve a ticket for the raffle included with your registration. This will undoubtedly be the premier ALES contest of the year! NOTE: Registration is limited to the first 60 entrants!!! This is being done in order to be able to fly the same number of rounds as last year so that every one gets in a good bit of flying. After the contest fills up there will be a waiting list for folks to be able to take advantage of cancellations. Contest entry is non refundable due to the amount of catered food etc. that must be planned for. If you must cancel and there is some one to take your place you may recieve a refund.
