Format One round of pools. 100% advance to direct elimination rounds. *Novice The novice event is a non-USFA event restricted to fencers who have been fencing less than one year (in any and all weapons). USFA membership is not required. The event may be broken into two events if numbers and age disparity call for it. Format will be a round of pools with 100% advancement to direct elimination rounds, the exact format of which (15-touch, 10-touch, best 2 out of 3 5-touch encounters) will be determined by tournament organizers at the event. Equipment All weapons will be scored electrically. Equipment (masks, lames, and electric cords) will be inspected and marked. USFA Membership Current competitive membership of the USFA required (except for Novice events). Membership forms will be available at the venue. If your membership is not pre-validated, you must be prepared to show proof of USFA membership, or at the door, fill out a membership form and pay $60 - check or credit card. Persons under age 18 MUST have a parent's signature on the USFA form.
