Billy Taylor is the latest man out in the coaching carousel, as Ball State has decided to move on from their sixth year head coach.

The Cardinals are coming off a 15-15 season and an 8-8 year in MAC play. Taylor was 84-99 in his six seasons at Ball State and 44-52.

In a statement from the school, Ball State athletic director Bill Scholl said:

“This was a difficult decision, primarily because Billy was a tremendous representative of our athletics department and university,Billy is a great man. Under his guidance our student-athletes conducted themselves properly and our most recent APR score was our highest rating since 2004-05. We thank him for leaving the program better than when he inherited it and we wish him well in the future.”

Before coming to Ball State, Taylor was the head coach at Lehigh from 2002-2007. He was the Patriot League Coach of Year in 2003 and 2004, and won the league championship in 2004.

Prior to Lehigh, Taylor was an assistant coach at Notre Dame and UNC-Greensboro.
