Davidson Takes the Southern Conference

By Parks Smith

SBnation.com

Bob McKillop won their second straight Southern Conference title tonight with a 74-55 victory over the College of Charleston. It was the seventeenth straight win for the Wildcats, who finished SoCon play with a 20-1 after the tournament victory in Asheville.

The championship marks McKillop's seventh tournament title in his tenure, which started in 1989. This season also marked his tenth regular season title.

While this Davidson team will certainly lack the star power of a Steph Curry, they have two solid players who combined to average over 28 points this year in Jake Cohen and De'Mon Brooks.

McKillop's squad will not only enter the "Big Dance" on one of the nation's biggest hot streak, but with a lot of postseason experience. Last year the Wildcats nearly knocked off Louisville and could provide a similar problem for whomever they match up with this year.

For Charleston, they are on to the Colonial Athletic Association and will not have to deal with Davidson any more. Right now it looks like there is no end to Davidson's SoCon dominance.
