Despite loss to Syracuse, ESPN still tabs Pitt as a No. 5 seed

SBnation.com

Pitt had held steady at a No. 5 seed in the last few ESPN Bracketology editions, but I was interested to see if they'd slip at all after the loss to Syracuse in the Big East Tournament on Thursday.

Things could change with conference tournaments still going on, but the Panthers are still a No. 5 seed according to Joe Lunardi. Pitt changed regions according to Lunardi, so the loss likely dropped them just a tad, but they didn't fall in the seedings. And realistically, they probably shouldn't have.

The loss was an ugly one for Pitt fans to endure with James Southerland torching the Panthers, but at the end of the day, a three-point loss to a top 20 team playing in their home state is hardly embarrassing. A loss there, save a blowout one, shouldn't really hurt - and according to Lunardi, it won't. I guess we'll find out on Sunday for sure, though.
