It was rumored that Matt Brown was on the chopping block when UMKC announced it was moving to join the WAC. Apparently those rumors have gotten a little bit stronger.

CBS' Jeff Goodman is reporting that Brown will be fired as the coach of the Kangaroos before the end of the week, and that the announcement could come as early as Tuesday.

The report goes on to state that Louisville's Kareem Richardson is the front-runner to be hired for the job.

In six years at the helm, Brown has had just a single winning season, going 16-14 in 2011. Even that wasn't enough to pull the Kangaroos out of the bottom 100 in the Ken Pom rankings, a common place for UMKC under Brown's watch.

The stint includes four 20-loss seasons, including this year's 8-24 mark that didn't feature any wins that you might consider... well, good.

UMKC lost to North Dakota State in the first round of the Summit Tournament.
