Patchy fog tonight, dry through Monday

By Breaking News Staff

SOUTHWEST OHIO —

Expect patchy fog throughout tonight where ever clouds are breaking and that could lead to some freezing fog and scattered icy patches on roadways by morning, Storm Center 7 Chief Meteorologist Jamie Simpson said.

The fog and icy spots will be driven by temperatures that will drop into the mid 20s by Saturday morning, Simpson said, but “I now think we’ll see a bit more sun tomorrow, but a good amount of clouds too, especially in the afternoon.”

A little patchy drizzle being reported near Fort Wayne, Ind., on Friday night means that some spots far north (Mercer, Auglaize and perhaps Logan counties) could see some of that precipitation and that could lead to a few slick spots developing early Saturday.

Ice accumulations fell short of the anticipated quarter-inch across most of the region as dry, cool conditions are expected for much of the weekend.

“We should be dry now through the weekend until Monday night,” Simpson said.

Highs Saturday are expected in the 30s as conditions are expected to remain cloudy until Saturday night, when there could be a chance that roads could become hazardous if they remain wet and then refreeze overnight.

“Sunday will be sunnier, but not much warmer with highs near 40,” Simpson said. “Monday we start with sun, but see clouds return in the afternoon. Highs in the mid 40s, then rain arrives Monday night.”

Rain showers that linger Tuesday will likely change to snow showers late in the afternoon or evening. A few more snow showers are possible for Wednesday, but that will melt quickly as temperatures are expected to top out in the upper 30s.
