URBANA —

An Urbana native has been nominated for an Oscar for a second straight year.

Sound designer Philip Stockton, a 1970 graduate of Urbana High School, was nominated Thursday morning in the sound editing category for his work with Eugene Gearty on “Life of Pi.”

Stockton won his first Academy Award last year for sound editing on director Martin Scorsese’s “Hugo.”

Stockton has worked on a number of famed movies, including “Goodfellas,” “Silence of the Lambs” and “Brokeback Mountain.”

The Oscars will be announced at 7 p.m. Feb. 24 on ABC.
