Armed robbers throw out knife set, keep car

DAYTON —

A 19-year-old was injured Thursday night after a group of black males robbed him at gunpoint and stole his car.

The victim was found around 11:25 p.m. in the 2000 block of Edison Avenue; he had suffered cuts and bruises on his head and was taken to Miami Valley Hospital, according to the Dayton police report.

Police said the teen had pulled up to his home driving his mother’s Ford Taurus when a group of four to five suspects standing on the corner approached him.

One in the group pulled the victim out of the car and used a handgun to strike him several times, according to the report.

The suspects took the victim’s car and drove away. Later, a CutCo knife set valued at $370, phone charger and other contents of the vehicle were found dumped behind a vacant home on West Stewart Street.

The cell phone and car were not recovered. The victim was ordered to talk with Dayton police detectives Friday morning.
