Bomb threat empties Miami Co. Courthouse

Also empties the Miami Co. Safety Building

TROY —

Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying the person who called in a bomb threat that led to the evacuation of 2 downtown Troy buildings Wednesday.

The Miami County Courthouse, and the Miami County Safety Building  at 201 W. Main St., Troy, were vacated for about 30 minutes between 1 and 2 p.m.

Someone called from a pay phone at the United Dairy Farmer store nearby and said there was a bomb on the third floor, according to a Miami County sheriff’s investigator, but didn't say in which building.

People were evacuated and the sheriff’s office conducted a sweep of the third floor of both buildings and determined they were safe, authorities said.

If you have information about the person who made the threat, please call the sheriff’s office at (937) 440-9911.
