DAYTON —
A 4 year old boy almost ate a used cough drop found in an order of french-fries at a fast food restaurant.
Sunday evening just after 6:00p.m., Felecia Mallory drove through the McDonald’s restaurant located at Gettysburg Ave and Hoover Ave. After leaving the drive-thru, Mallory’s 4 year old son started digging through his Happy Meal. Shortly thereafter, she told us that her son said “Mommy, what’s this?”. He had a used cough drop stuck to his finger after pulling a fry out of the container.
Mallory immediately turned around and returned to the restaurant, going inside and asked to see a manager. A man came to the counter. Mallory explained what occurred and said the man said he was handling the french-fries and had been sick, but denied having a cough drop. After he left the counter, she asked to see someone else.
Another employee, Patty Rice, came to the counter at which time Mallory retold her story. Rice, Mallory said, was very professional and courteous, apologizing for the incident and filled out an insurance report and returned the fries per Mallory’s request. Rice informed Mallory that it is store policy to not chew gum or suck on cough drops.
Mallory is waiting for McDonald’s to process the claim.
