Cash target of Speedway station robber

Staff Report

HUBER HEIGHTS —

A man with his face covered by a cloth entered the Speedway station on Chambersburg Road early Friday morning and demanded cash, according to police.

Around 2:30 a.m. a thin white man approximately 6-foot-3 walked into the station, 6385 Chambersburg, approached the clerk and asked them to empty all of the money from the register, according to police. The clerk complied and gave the man, who also was wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans, the money, police said. The suspect left the store and fled north, according to officers.

No weapon was shown or mentioned during the robbery, said Huber Heights Sgt. Charles Taylor. The suspect made off with an unknown amount of money.

A K-9 was called in to help track the suspect, but the track was not successful, according to reports.

The robbery was the first time in several months the Speedway had been targeted, Taylor said.
