The China Buffet on East Main Street in Springfield was the target of an armed robbery Monday night.

Around 9 p.m., the suspect walked into the restaurant and ordered an employee to open a cash register, according to a police report. The employee said she could see a gun in the suspect’s right jacket pocket, and it was pointed toward her.

After taking an undetermined amount of cash from the register, the suspect fled.

The suspect is described as a white male, around 5’10” and 215 pounds. He was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt with a zipper with a black shirt underneath, light denim jeans and black sneakers. The hood was pulled up on the sweatshirt, and the suspect was also wearing a white bandanna over his face.

The clerk identified the suspect by name, but no charges have been filed due to insufficient information, according to the report.
