WEST CARROLLTON —
Fire officials said children who were playing with a lighter started a fire inside a two-story home in West Carrollton Friday morning.
Crews responded to the home in the 130 block of West Main Street around 10:15 a.m. Firefighters reported smoke showing from a second story window upon arrival.
Officials said the children were playing with the lighter unsupervised and caught a mattress on fire. The blaze caused about $15,000 in damage, according to reports.
A prevention officer was called to the scene to talk to the children about fire safety.
