$1K in drugs found in abandoned car

By Breaking News Staff

DAYTON —

Police responding to a call about a suspicious vehicle next to a vacant house confiscated more than $1,000 worth of heroin and cocaine from the car.

Neighbors on Manhattan Avenue reported the car had been sitting in an alley for about 30 minutes. It was running and unattended.

Police discovered that the temporary license plate on the vehicle did not belong to that car and decided to tow it, according to a police incident report.

When officers opened the door to get the keys, they reported that the car smelled of marijuana.

They searched it and found two bags full of clear gel capsules, one containing 11.46 grams of heroin and one containing 7.43 grams of cocaine, according to the report.

That amount of drugs is worth at least $1,000 on the street according to the Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services.
