MORAINE —

Police said a bickering couple will be jailed after they abandoned their baby — still in a stroller — by a bus stop Monday night.

Moraine police arrested a male, believed to be about 19 years old, and a juvenile female as part of a domestic violence incident that began in front of the Miami Valley Fire District Station 55, 5204 Springboro Pike.

That male, identified as Taylor Kovacs, has been booked into the Montgomery County Jail. The name of the female has not been released.

Sgt. Russ Imler said firefighters at the station overheard the couple fighting by the bus stop and went out to break it up. The two stopped fighting and separated, going in different directions and leaving their 4-month daughter behind, Imler said.

The child was unharmed and is with relatives.

Police found the parents at different locations shortly after responding to the fire station. Kovacs was at a house and the mother was found walking down the street.

Imler said the two have different versions of what happened. The mother, taken to Montgomery County Juvenile Detention, was charged with child endangering.

Kovacs faces the same charge, as well as a possible domestic violence charge.

“It’s good that we had people right there who could call police,” Imler said.
