Car sticker lands robbery suspect in jail

RICHMOND —

Richmond Police made an arrest today after the Village Pantry on South Ninth Street was robbed for the third time in one month.

Capt. Bill Shake said police arrested Zachary Hull in connection with the latest robbery, which happened at about 11 p.m. Wednesday.

According to Shake, a man drove up to the store at 1201 S. Ninth St. and saw the clerk on the phone and a man leaving hurriedly on the opposite side of the building.

The witness deduced that there had been a hold-up so he followed the suspect vehicle and described it to police as a red pickup truck with a “Fox logo” in the back window.

Today, a city sanitation worker stopped told a police officer that he’d seen a truck matching that description parked at a house.

Police went to that address and saw Hull trying to scrape the logo sticker off of the truck window.

Shake said Hull, “may be a potential suspect in a previous robbery.”

He said police are still looking for more suspects in other recent robberies at the same store on Jan. 2 and Jan. 29.
