Church’s Chicken on North Broadway Street robbed at gunpoint

DAYTON —

Five men robbed the Church’s Chicken on North Broadway Street at gunpoint at about 9:10 p.m. Monday.

Two of the men were wearing black ski masks and gray hooded sweatshirts while the other three were described as wearing dark clothing, according to a Dayton Police incident report.

Two of the men reportedly stood at openings in a plexiglass partition and pointed guns through demanding employees unlock the door to get behind the counter.

Once they got into the employee area they forced one employee to lie on the floor and made another open the register. Then they put a gun to one employee’s head and made him open the safe, the report states. Employees also were forced to give the men their cell phones.

The men fled out the back door of the store and a woman at a bus stop saw them go down West Riverview towards Easton Street.

Police used a dog to track the suspects and found a dark piece of clothing on the ground, but the track ended on Easton Street where the men may have gotten into a vehicle.
