DAYTON —
An 18-year-old was questioned Dayton Police and booked into jail after he allegedly made a threat of violence that caused a lockdown of Gardendale Academy this afternoon.
The threat was made during a verbal argument with a staff member, according to police and school officials. The student then left the school and staff called police.
Christopher Hardy was located at a house on Williams Street and was taken to the police department for questioning. He did not have any weapons on him when arrested.
The school, 1733 N. Gettysburg Ave., went on lockdown around noon and remained locked down until dismissal at 1:45 p.m.
Hardy was booked into the Montgomery County Jail pending charges of inducing panic and aggravated menacing.
Police did not say if the threat was made towards the staff member, the whole school, or other students.
“Any threat in a school is taken seriously whether it is directed at an individual or a group,” said Lt. Wendy Stiver.
