EATON —
The grandfather of a 17-month-old girl testified today in the trial of the man accused of sexually assaulting her last year.
Joshua Cook of West Alexandria is charged with two counts of rape, one count of sexual battery and three counts of child endangering and was in Judge David N. Abruzzo’s court for the second day of his trial today.
He was watching the girl and another child while their mother, his girlfriend, was at work last July when the alleged assault occurred.
The grandfather told the jury of 10 women and three men that he found visible injuries on his granddaughter when he picked her up and took her to Dayton Children’s Medical Center.
Laura Kiddon, a forensic scientist at the Miami Valley Regional Crime Lab also took the stand for the prosecution.
She talked about examining the girl’s diapers and shorts that she was wearing that day.
Cook sat quietly in the courtroom during the testimonies.
