DAYTON —
A report of a double stabbing Saturday night may actually be a case of self-defense, according to a police report.
Dayton Police homicide detectives were called to investigate after a victim was taken to Miami Valley Hospital having lost a lot of blood from several stab wounds.
The man who cut him claims he was acting in self-defense when he was repeatedly attacked and suffered cuts himself.
21-year-old Michael Sutherland told police that he was attacked by 33-year-old Deantre Lloyd while he was walking to a bus stop on Genesee Avenue at about 7 p.m. The two men have an ongoing dispute, according to a police report.
According to the report, Sutherland tried to walk back to his house on Dewitt Drive, but was struck by Lloyd several more times.
He said when he managed to get back on his own property he pulled out his pocket knife and told Lloyd to go away and stay off his property, but Lloyd kept attacking him.
He said he swung the knife at Lloyd several times and thought he had cut him.
Lloyd soon called 911 from his residence on Genesee.
He was taken to Miami Valley Hospital where his condition was unavailable Monday morning.
Sutherland was questioned by police, but has not been charged in connection to the stabbing.
