DAYTON —
A woman returned home at about 7 p.m. Monday evening to her home in 1500 block of Earlham Drive to find a man inside her house.
According to a Dayton Police incident report, she said she went to unlock the door and noticed it was already unlocked, which was not how she left it.
She opened the door and a man came out of the dark living room, according to the report. He pushed her down and ran off. She told police all she saw was a man in a dark jacket with a hood.
The victim hit her head when she was knocked down and was treated at Good Samaritan Hospital.
Police discovered that her door had been kicked in. Jewelry and other items had been thrown around in two bedrooms, but it was unknown if anything was actually missing, according to the report.
Police used a dog to track the burglar to a home on Benson Drive where they saw a man wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt. When that man eventually answered the door, however, he was wearing a different shirt.
Police had not made any arrests as of Tuesday morning.
