GREENE COUNTY —
A mom suspected of killing her infant daughter by rolling over onto her is expected in court today for a pre-trial hearing.
Cassandra Lewis, 20, of Fairborn, will be in Greene County Common Pleas Court.
Lewis faces possible charges of involuntary manslaughter, endangering children and tampering with evidence. All three charges are third degree felonies.
Lewis was indicted by a grand jury in January. She was arrested Jan. 25.
In 911 recordings from the day the baby died, Lewis can be heard telling a dispatcher she rolled over on the infant in her sleep.
“I need to be reported,” she said. “My baby’s body is already bruising.” She also tells the dispatcher the baby was born three weeks premature.
“There are some underlying circumstances that will be used in court,” Fairborn Police Sgt. Paul Hicks said in January when asked about the mother’s condition at the time the incident occurred.
A final pre-trial hearing is set for March 20, and her trial is expected to begin April 8, officials said.
