KETTERING —

A 31-year-old Miami Twp. man arrested after he was accused of assaulting another man with a crow bar in a road rage incident now stands charged with felonious assault.

Tyler J. Dieterle was in the Kettering City Jail late Thursday afternoon on three counts with bond set at $25,000, Kettering police Officer Ron Roberts said.

Dieterle soon will be moved to the Montgomery County Jail now that the charges have been approved by the county prosecutor’s office, Roberts said.

At about 5:10 p.m. Wednesday, police found the victim sitting on a curb on South Dixie Highway near West Dorothy Lane. The victim had been struck on the head numerous times with a crow bar and was taken to Kettering Medical Center, police said.

The suspect, later identified by police as Dieterle, fled the scene in a silver Mitsubishi Eclipse. A witness, who was trying to help the victim and report Dieterle’s license tag number to dispatchers, was struck in the leg by his vehicle, police said.

The witness told news crews at the scene that he tried to help, but suffered a sprained ankle when the suspect’s vehicle ran over his foot.

Police arrested Dieterle a few hours after the incident. He had gone to a hospital because of an eye injury suffered in the fracas.
