DAYTON —
Police who stopped a suspected drunk driver on North Keowee Street Sunday night also arrested one of his passengers for being a convicted felon in possession of a concealed weapon.
Officers pulled over the vehicle at about 10:30 p.m. after witnessing Jermaine Thomas, 34, driving erratically, according to a Dayton Police incident report.
Thomas appeared intoxicated when officers removed him from the vehicle. He was booked into the Montgomery County Jail for operating a vehicle intoxicated and transporting intoxicating liquor in a motor vehicle.
One of the four passengers in the car, 31-year-old Rodrickous Johnson, was arrested pending charges of carrying a concealed weapon and having weapons under disability after a handgun was found in his pocket.
According to the report, he told officers that he forgot he had the gun on him, but has been carrying it for protection recently because someone he knows was shot.
