DAYTON —
A man who allegedly climbed in a window and armed himself with a hammer was arrested Thursday evening when the female resident of the home pinned him and held him for police.
The woman and her 14-year-old daughter told police that an acquaintance of the family, Robert Lee Ellington, showed up at the Stolz Avenue house about 6 p.m. and began banging on the door looking for the teen.
When she wouldn’t answer the door he allegedly walked to the side of the house, climbed in a window, and grabbed a hammer he found inside.
The woman came downstairs and struggled with Ellington. She was able to pin the 52-year-old on the ground and hold the hammer until police arrived.
Police observed that there was significant damage to the door of the home, and a screen door had been completely pulled off its hinges, according to a police report.
Neither woman was injured in the incident. Ellington had an injury to his head and was treated at Grandview Hospital before being booked into jail.
