Faulty wire and transformer blamed for outage

ENGLEWOOD —

More than 2, 700 Dayton Power & Light customers were without power early Tuesday morning because of issues with a transformer that needed replacement and a power line that became disconnected from an insulator.

DP&L crews were on scene at midnight, working on the problem in an area near Beechgrove Drive.

A spokesman said at the height of the outage, 2,740 customers were without power.

He said 2,100 of those were back on by 12:30 p.m.

An additional 497 were restored by 1:16 a.m.

As of 5:40 a.m., only about 150 remained in the dark. The spokesman said those customers should be back on line soon.
