A/C units stolen from Dayton church

DAYTON —

Four central air conditioning units — collectively valued at $3,200 — were reported stolen Saturday evening from a church on Free Pike.

A member of St. Timothy Missionary Baptist Church, located at 4466 Free Pike, said fresh footprints in the snow seemed to suggest the units were taken recently. They were located in the rear of the church. The units had a metal fence around them and then were encased encased by a chain-linked fence that did not have a cover. According to a Dayton police report, it is believed the suspects jumped over the fence and proceeded to cut the chains and locks.

It was not the first time an air-conditioning unit was stolen from the church. Police said a single unit was stolen last year.
