Ansonia student accused of threatening classmate

Staff Report

ANSONIA, Darke County —

An Ansonia High School student accused of making threats against another student, and suggesting in a comment on Facebook that he would bring a gun to school, has been suspended, the village’s police chief said Thursday night.

Ansonia Police Chief Frank Shapiro said a third party noticed the conversation between two students on Facebook Wednesday night and called police. In the thread, one boy said the other made him “want to bring a gun to school and shoot people,” according to the first boy’s father.

Shapiro said police are investigating if any criminal charges are appropriate. He said he informed the school of the situation on Thursday morning and the student was removed from class.

The boy, the chief said, has been suspended.

School officials could not be reached Thursday afternoon for comment.
