Arrest made after two disputes outside of convenience marts

Dayton police arrested a 36-year-old man for allegedly fighting another man on two different occasions Saturday night and robbing him of $20.

Ricardo L. Diggs was arrested by Dayton officers on suspicion of felony robbery around 11:45 p.m. A man told police an incident between the two began outside the Superette, located at 200 Burkhardt Ave. According to information in a Dayton police report, Diggs asked the man for money; when the man refused, Diggs allegedly punched him in the face, which knocked him to the ground.

The man told police Diggs stole $20 from his wallet, then fled on foot.

The man said he returned to his car and drove to the Shell gas station at 3420 E. Third St. because he needed gas. He said he saw Diggs at Sam’s Market — also on Third — and walked over from the Shell station to demand his money back.

Diggs retreated into an alley, according to the man, who followed him. In the alley, the man said Diggs with with two other men, who closed in and a second fight began.

The man eventually returned to the Shell station and called police. He provided police with a description of Diggs, who was soon arrested.

The man identified Diggs as his attacker to police. Diggs is due in court Monday afternoon.
