KETTERING, Ohio —
Four cars and a storage area were destroyed and four other cars were damaged after fire engulfs a carport on Croftshire Drive Thursday night.
Firefighters responded to the 4700-block of Croftshire around 11:15 p.m. after several callers reported seeing huge flames. When firefighters arrived they discovered the carport fully engulfed, said Jon Durrenberg with the Kettering Fire Department.
"It was very hot. It ignited the pine trees up above," said Durrenberg. "Our main priority was the exposure of the apartment building."
Firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading to that nearby apartment building.
Officials are still looking for a cause of the fire and it remains under investigation.
