COVINGTON, Ohio —

Police departments from areas near Covington are still searching for the driver of an older model, rusty and red pick-up truck after an attempted child abduction occurring just before 11:30am Sunday morning at the intersection of Grant and Maple Streets in Covington.

NewsCenter 7 has learned three young children, all under ten years old, were riding bikes in the area when approached, said Covington Police Chief Lee Harmon. The driver was unidentified, but the pick-up truck was reported as missing the tailgate.

About two hours later Piqua police stopped a pick-up truck that fit the description on Covington Ave. in their city. The driver returned to Covington to be questioned by police. The truck was red, it was rusty and it was missing a trailgate. The driver told NewsCenter 7's Steve Baker the he did nothing wrong as he got back into the truck and drove off.

The driver being sought, stopped and asked the kids to get in the truck. They said no and the driver drove off without any threats or a struggle.

Anyone with information should contact the Miami County 911 Communication Center.
