MORAINE —

A 5-year-old boy playing with matches in a bedroom sparked a blaze Tuesday at a home on Dorf Drive, a fire official said.

The room at the residence in the 3000 block of Dorf was damaged, and there was smoke damage throughout the house, Moraine Deputy Fire Chief David Cooper said.

The mother was in the home with the child at the time, Cooper said. No one was injured.

Fire crews dispatched at about 3 p.m. on a report of a fire in a bedroom found a working structure fire.

No damage estimate was available, Cooper said.

The family has been displaced and is staying with relatives, members of the family told News Center 7’s Kate Bartley on Tuesday night.
