Damages $160K in Greenville woodshop blaze

Two firefighters injured

Staff Report

GREENVILLE, Ohio —

A problem with a wood stove in a small antique and carpentry shop is being blamed for a fire Friday night that caused major damage to the building, including a collapsed roof.

One firefighter with the Greenville Fire Department suffered an ankle injury that required a trip to a hospital, the fire chief said, but there were no other injuries from the fire at Woodmill Company, 339 West Park Drive. That firefighter was treated and released.

The antique, furniture repair and woodworking shop was closed and empty at the time the fire broke out, according to the fire chief. Damages were estimated at about $160,000.

Several fire departments, including the Ansonia Volunteer Fire Department, helped fight the fire that was reported at about 7:20 p.m.
