RIVERSIDE, Ohio —
Authorities said an electrical fire sent children home from a daycare facility Thursday morning.
Riverside crews responded around 11:35 a.m. to the Merrie Time Christian Daycare, 5825 Burkhardt Ave. A ceiling-mounted exhaust fan in a bathroom caught fire and dropped into a waste basket, emitting smoke and prompting an evacuation of the building, fire officials said.
An estimated 20 to 30 children were inside when the fire occurred. Everyone made it out of the facility safely, but the daycare closed for the rest of the day and an electrician was called to make the repairs.
