Ex-pharmacist indicted on drug charges

WEST LIBERTY, Logan County —

A 63-year-old former pharmacist who admitted to a drug addiction and that he stole drugs from pharmacies where he worked in Champaign, Logan and Montgomery counties has been indicted on six felony drug-related charges.

Hubert Ridgway was indicted Wednesday by a Logan County grand jury on two counts of theft and four counts of drug possession, said Kyle Parker, Ohio State Board of Pharmacy director.

The pharmacy board began its investigation after being notified by West Liberty police. A search warrant conducted at Ridgway’s home on March 2 resulted in the seizure of numerous prescription drugs.

On March 15, he admitted to state pharmacy board agents that he was addicted to Valium and hydrocodone, and that he stole those drugs from various pharmacies where he worked.

On June 12, at a formal adjudication hearing, the state pharmacy board permanently revoked Ridgway’s Ohio pharmacist’s license effective July 11.
