Family Dollar robbed, employee slips out to call police

DAYTON —

A Dayton Family Dollar employee said a man entered the business Friday evening, pointed a gun to his head and ordered him to the ground before robbing the business.

The incident happened around 8:30 p.m. at the store at 3237 W. Siebenthaler Ave. Witnesses described the suspect as a black male wearing a black Carhartt jacket, with a black knit hat and a partial ski mask over his face. He was wearing dark pants and showed what was described as a large semi-automatic gun.

According to a Dayton police report, the man ordered an employee to open a register. While at the register, another employee fled the store and ducked inside a nearby business to call police.

Inside the Family Dollar the suspect said, ā€œI’m a View boy Blood gang,ā€ according to the report. No one was hurt in the incident and it was unclear how much money had been stolen at the time police filed their report.

A K-9 unit responded to the scene but was unsuccessful in tracking the scent.
