DAYTON, Ohio -- It could be a major security breach.
A USB thumb drive containing social security numbers for 1,200 people who sought assistance from the Montgomery County Department of Job and Family Services has been missing since August. We're told the county does not believe the drive has been accessed by anyone.
Those affected were notified by mail. The county is offering one year of free identity protection for those whose information might have been compromised.
The county found the flash drive was missing August 24. It contains the names and social security numbers of people who were serviced at the Transition Center on Dryden Road in Moraine between 2005 and 2010.
