KETTERING, Ohio —
Kettering Police are investigating a small explosion in the parking lot of Fairmont High School, 3301 Shroyer Rd. this afternoon.
Staff at the high school reported hearing what sounded like a gun shot in a parking lot at 12:59 p.m.
School administrators and a school resource officer found a 16.9-ounce water bottle that had exploded in a vacant parking space and alerted police and the fire department.
The water bottle had a hole in the side and crumpled aluminum foil about two feet away from the explosion, according to police.
Kettering Fire Department officials and officers at the scene determined there was no threat to students. No one was injured and no property was damaged.
