HUBER HEIGHTS —
The Speedway gas station, 6000 Brandt Pike, was robbed around 1 a.m. after a man entered the store armed with a knife and demanded cash.
The suspect, who is described as a light-skinned male wearing a hood and 5-foot-8 to 6-feet tall, entered the location through the front door and was able to escape with an undetermined amount of cash, police said. The suspect's knife was left behind at the crime scene.
The same Speedway has been the target of multiple robbers in the last six to nine months, with it being held up three to four times during that time period. "I don't think it's a serial person, I just think it's a crime of opportunity," said Sgt. Chris Kash with the Huber Heights Police Department.
Officers believe they have a good handle on the potential suspect, after calling in a K-9 unit from Riverside. "The track was pretty successful. We ended up in an area down the street," said Kash. "We'll be passing that information on to our detectives."
No customers were inside the store when the robbery happened.
