DAYTON —

An 18-year-old Dayton man is to be sentenced Oct. 31 after he was found guilty Wednesday of murder in the shooting of another man this spring.

James David Miller was convicted in the April 9 killing of Renaldo Woodbury, 23, on Forest Glen Avenue, Montgomery County Prosecutor Mat Heck Jr.’s office said.

Woodbury was the boyfriend of Miller’s sister and had been arguing with Miller when the incident occurred, Heck’s office said. Miller was 17 at the time.

The prosecutor’s office successfully filed a request for Miller’s case to be sent to adult court, mainly because of the nature of the crime and Miller’s history with the juvenile court system.

Judge Nick Kuntz on May 21 found probable cause and sent Miller’s case to adult criminal court.

Miller, when sentenced, is facing a term of 15 years to life in addition to a mandatory three years for using a firearm in the crime, according to the prosecutor’s office.
