MIAMI TWP. —
A pedestrian died today after attempting to walk across Ohio 741 after dark.
Burton Smith, 76, of West Carrollton, was taken to Kettering Memorial Hospital where he died from his injuries.
Police said the driver of the Jeep Grand Cherokee that struck Smith just south of Alex Bell Road in the left lane was not speeding and alcohol is not a factor. Burton was walking ouside of any marked crosswalk, said Lt. M.W. Nichols with the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The driver of the Jeep did not suffer any injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
