BEAVERCREEK —

A mother and her son were reunited after the 9-year-old boy took off following an argument at a dentist's office on Monday.

Beavercreek police received a call at about 4:40 p.m. from the mother shortly after her son's disappearance.

"She had just finished at the dentist's office up on Beaver Vu Drive with her son when she called us and basically said, 'My son's gotten upset and taken off on me,' so the search was on at that time," Capt. Jeff Fiorita said.

All officers were called to respond, along with a Montgomery County K-9 unit.

Two hours into the search, police received a call from a citizen reporting they had spotted the boy in yellow Crocs, blue shirt and teal shorts sitting on a curb on North Fairfield Road in the area of Pebble Creek, a distance roughly two miles from the dentist's office.

The boy was returned to his parents by police without injury or harm. The reason for his disappearance is unknown and no charges have been filed.

"There was no criminal activity taking place here," Fiorita said. "Mom did the best thing she could."
