Ohio woman killed in Route 50 crash

The Ohio State Highway Patrol out of Wilmington said it is investigating a fatal crash that happened Monday morning.

The crash happened around 9:51 a.m. near the intersection of North Beach Road and U.S. Route 50.

Troopers said Elly Albert, 37, of Bainbridge, Ohio, was traveling north on North Beach Road and was attempting to turn right onto Route 50 and was struck by another vehicle driven by Jeff Sturdivan, 49 of Greenfield.

OSP said after the initial impact, Sturdivan's vehicle went off the right side of the road, overturned and came to a rest on its top. They said Albert's vehicle came to a rest in a field.

According to OSP, Albert was not wearing her seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.  Sturdivan was taken to Greenfield Area Medical Center, where he was treated and released.

Troopers said it appears that neither drugs nor alcohol played a role in the crash.
