MERCER COUNTY, Ohio —

The Ohio Highway Patrol on Monday increased patrols along U.S. 127 in Mercer County, especially in the area of Clover Four Road south of Celina, an area where six people died last month in two crashes that occurred 16 days apart.

The Mercer County Sheriff's Office has also putting more patrols on 127 also, said Sheriff Jeff Grey.

Deputies handled the investigations into both of those deadly crashes.

Sgt. Kristina Bennett said the special detail will continue during various times through the summer, not only in Mercerbut also in Van Wert, Darke and Preble counties.

Troopers from neighboring OSP posts will also be assigned to bring high visibility to those troubled areas.
