DAYTON —

Children at a local hospital are pigging out - on love from animals.

Dayton Children’s Medical Center has a volunteer-led pet therapy program that is putting smiles on the faces of patients there, said a woman who takes her pig to visit.

Oliver is April Fox’s pig. They go every few weeks and visit room to room. “I get the biggest reward out of this,” Fox said. “To see the smiles on a face, that means they aren’t frowning. And here, that is very important.”

Oliver went through a pet therapy certification program. He is bathed before every hospital visit and is great around kids and adults, she said.
