DAYTON —
Two small children in the back seat of a vehicle in which police found suspected drug residue and drug paraphernalia were in the custody of a grandparent Wednesday night.
An adult male found in the driver’s seat, unresponsive, was taken to a hospital and an adult female found in the front passenger seat was detained on possible drug-related charges, Dayton police said.
Police received a call about an unresponsive male in the parking lot of the Dollar General store, 445 Salem Ave., at about 8 p.m., said a police officer at the scene.
Officers found the male, the female in the front seat, the children in the back, as well as the drug residue and drug paraphernalia, the officer said.
The male, who was breathing, was taken to Grandview Hospital. His condition was not immediately known.
The children, both believed to be younger than 10 years old, were picked up by a grandfather and the case will be referred to Montgomery County Children Services, the officer said.
The female, who told police she lives in Springfield, was arrested pending charges of child endangering and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to police.
