Police seek public’s help in fatal hit-and-run

DAYTON —

Dayton police are asking for the public’s help to locate and identify the driver of a medium size gray or silver car that struck and killed a woman Sunday as she was standing in the street.

At about 8:10 p.m. on Oct. 14, a driver headed north on North Main Street approached vehicles that were stopped in traffic. The driver abruptly changed lanes and struck a Ford Explorer that had stopped for the pedestrian.

The driver of the gray or silver car then struck the pedestrian in the 2600 block of North Main and did not stop.

Witnesses told police that they observed the suspect vehicle head north on North Main. Initial reports indicated that the car was missing a headlight.

A Dayton fire crew responded and took the pedestrian to Miami Valley Hospital. The pedestrian died at the hospital on Wednesday, Oct. 17.

Anyone who may have information about this incident is asked to call Dayton Officer Jonathan Seiter at (937) 333-1359. During weekends and off-hours, call the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center at (937) 225-4357.
