Overnight forecast calling for rain

MIAMI VALLEY —

Expect a few showers in the Miami Valley in the window of 5 to 7 this evening before clouds thicken into the night and a breeze from the southwest keeps the climate mild with temperatures hovering in the 60s.

After the 7 o’clock hour, the area should remain dry until well after midnight when a possible shower could develop across the northwest portion of the valley. Rain will be steady, if not heavy at times, from 3 a.m. through 7 a.m., and there will be thunder and lightning, Storm Center 7 Chief Meteorologist Jamie Simpson said. Winds could gust to 30 mph or 40 mph.

Rain is expected to end by late Thursday morning with returning sunshine and highs reaching the low 60s.

Cooler air, as well as more clouds and showers, work their way into the area for Friday and Saturday, Simpson said. A morning shower is possible Friday, but most of the rain will hold off until later in the day. Highs on Friday will be in the mid 50s, then drop into the upper 40s for area high school football games.

Expect showers through Saturday morning that will taper off in the early afternoon, with a little sun late Saturday. The high temperatures will climb back into the mid 50s.

Look for a possibility of more sun Sunday with highs in the mid 60s and even more sun Monday with a high near 70.
